Add the widget to cart page (App Embed / App Block)

What this article covers

This guide shows how to add the Azent widget to your cart page using:

  • App Embed (quick setup)

  • App Block (custom placement)

Both methods work on Online Store 2.0 themes.

Choose the right method first

Use App Embed if you want fast setup with minimal steps.
Use App Block if you want precise position control in your cart layout.

You usually need only one method on cart page.

Option A - Add widget with App Embed (quickest)

Go to App -> Settings -> Widget Display.

Click Open Theme Editor (App Embed).

In Shopify Theme Editor:

  1. Open App embeds (left sidebar)

  2. Find Delivery Time Slots App

  3. Toggle it ON

  4. Click Save

Done. The widget should now appear on your cart page.

Option B - Add widget with App Block (more control)

Go to App -> Settings -> Widget Display.

Click Open Theme Editor (App Block).

In Shopify Theme Editor:

  1. Open your Cart template/section

  2. Click Add block

  3. Select Delivery Picker (Azent)

  4. Drag it to your preferred location

  5. Click Save

Use this option when you want exact placement above/below totals, notes, or buttons.

Recommended placement on cart page

For better conversion and fewer errors, place the widget:

  • Above the Checkout button, or

  • Near order note / shipping summary

Avoid placing it too low where customers may miss it.

App Embed vs App Block (quick comparison)

  • Setup speed: App Embed is faster

  • Placement control: App Block is better

  • Theme compatibility: both require OS 2.0 support

  • Maintenance: App Embed is easier for non-technical users

How to test after setup

  1. Open storefront cart page

  2. Add product to cart

  3. Check if date picker appears

  4. Select date and time

  5. Refresh page to confirm selection is retained

  6. Continue to checkout and verify selected values still appear

Common issues

  • App Embed was turned on but theme changes were not saved

  • Added App Block to wrong template (not Cart)

  • Theme does not support expected cart section/block area

  • Widget hidden by custom CSS from theme or apps

  • Date/time unavailable because settings are restrictive (lead time, cutoff, holidays, capacity)

Quick troubleshooting checklist

If widget is not visible on cart page:

  1. Confirm App Embed or App Block is enabled

  2. Confirm changes are saved in Theme Editor

  3. Confirm you are editing the live/active theme

  4. Check cart has products

  5. Check app settings are enabled (date/time)

  6. Temporarily disable custom cart scripts/CSS to test conflicts

In short

  • Start with App Embed for speed

  • Switch to App Block if you need custom placement

  • Always test cart -> checkout flow after enabling

If cart setup is still not working, use the Checkout widget as fallback for reliable delivery data capture.
