How to block holidays and blackout dates
What this article covers
Holidays and blackout dates let you block specific dates so customers cannot select them for delivery or pickup.
Use this for public holidays, warehouse closures, team events, or any day you cannot fulfill orders.
What is a holiday/blackout date?
A holiday (blackout date) is a date that should not be available for scheduling.
Examples:
National holidays
Store closed days
Inventory count days
Maintenance days
When blocked, that date is removed from customer selection.
How to add a holiday
Go to App -> Settings -> Holidays.
Create a holiday with:
Name (example: Christmas Day)
Date (example: 2026-12-25)
Delivery methods (Shipping, Local Delivery, Store Pickup)
Save when done.
Apply blackout by delivery method
You can block a date for specific methods only.
Examples:
Block Shipping only, keep Store Pickup available
Block Local Delivery on Sundays, keep other methods open
Block all methods for full closure days
This gives you flexible control by operation type.
How it affects customers
If a date is blocked:
The date will not be selectable in the date picker
Related time slots for that date are not available
Customers must choose another valid date
If all dates in the visible range are blocked, customers may not see available dates.
Plan limits
Holiday limits depend on your plan:
Free: up to 5 holidays
Standard: up to 20 holidays
Pro: unlimited holidays
If you reach the limit, delete old entries or upgrade.
Best practices
Add public holidays for the full year in advance
Use clear names (example: New Year Closure)
Review recurring blocked dates every quarter
Keep method selection accurate (do not block all methods by mistake)
Common mistakes
Blocking the wrong date (month/day swapped)
Blocking all delivery methods unintentionally
Forgetting to remove temporary blackout dates
Expecting holidays to override every other setting (they only block specific dates)
Quick troubleshooting checklist
If a date is missing unexpectedly:
Check Holidays list for that date
Check which delivery methods are blocked
Check allowed days in Delivery Dates settings
Check lead time and cutoff time
Check max orders per day capacity
In short
Holidays/blackout dates are the fastest way to block unavailable dates
You can block by method, not only globally
Keep the holiday list clean and reviewed to avoid unexpected date gaps
If customers report missing dates, always check Holidays first.
